Begin the new year asking yourself: Do you want more out of your practice? Would you like an entire weekend of complete immersion into the practice as a reset, rekindle or retreat for your body, mind and soul? For those who crave deeper knowledge of chanting and sacred devotional practices, who want time to explore the philosophy and how it relates to everyday life and who are interested in more detailed asana instruction and technique: Bhakti Immersion was created for you.
In this first module of The Complete Practice, we will sit with and study the Lord of Beginnings, Ganesha: the Elephant headed deity that inspires us to work hard and well, stay the path, know our values, remain committed and also enjoy the sweet taste of our daily lives. It is with his firm and massive earthy feet that obstacles of ignorance and fear are decimated. We will learn how to integrate the powerful but accessible lessons Ganesha offers into our practice and lives through stories, chanting, meditation, lecture / discussion, a detailed asana lab, inner personal values work and Steph’s signature full-on vinyasa flows. Bhakti Yoga is the yoga of devotion and calls on us to integrate the practice into every aspect of our lives. This immersion will show you how.
This weekend is a part of Stephanie’s Complete Practice Training Program, and this weekend is appropriate for strong beginners, advanced practitioners, and teachers. These hours are certified CEUs by Yoga Alliance.
Friday: 6:00 – 9:00pm
Chanting: Invoking Ganesha, learn English translation of the chanting, understand the why and how of chanting.
Ganesha Practice: earthy vinyasa flow
Saturday: 9:00am – 1:00pm
Meditation: practice simple techniques that will support a home meditation practice
Philosophy: lecture/discussion on sacred texts and how we can pull the beautiful and encouraging teachings of Ganesha into our lives.
Asana Lab Practice: Detailed technique and focus on legs and hips through standing, balancing, and seated poses. We will explore how to leverage intelligent alignment of the feet and legs in order to create better freedom and flow in the deeper hip openers. You will learn skillful ways to use props, how to modify for physical restriction and how to add variation for those who are ready to advance into deeper poses.
Break: 1:00 – 2:00pm
Saturday: 2:00 – 5:00pm
Pranayama: grounding breathing technique
Philosophy: accessible and lively lecture/discussion through the Ganesha traditions/stories/implications
Vinyasa Practice: Ganapati Flow
Sunday: 9:00am – 1:00pm
Meditation Practice: engaging techniques learned, further instruction
Philosophy: Continued exploration and constructive follow-up on philosophical guiding principles and engaging the teachings through inner personal spiritual practices.
Vinyasa Flow: Commitment, Courage, Consciousness
Break: 1:00 – 2:00pm
Sunday: 2:00 – 4:00pm
Philosophy: wrap-up including powerful personal values exercise to help you begin the new year and stay dedicated to your spiritual practices.
Restorative Yoga: a deep release, gentle restorative and somatic yoga for a sweet end and integration of a full weekend.
