Do you want more out of your practice? Would you like an entire weekend of complete immersion into the practice as a reset, rekindle or retreat for your body, mind and soul? For those who crave deeper knowledge of chanting and sacred devotional practices, who want time to explore the philosophy and how it relates to everyday life and who are interested in more detailed asana instruction and technique: Bhakti Immersion was created for you.
In this third module of The Complete Practice, we will sink deeply into an exploration of the beautiful and sophisticated teachings of the goddess, Saraswati. We will explore and engage her aspects of discipline, intellectual commitment, and creative inspiration. We will learn how to integrate and connect with the philosophical principles that come through her mantra, stories, sacred texts and practices. Through lecture/discussion, asana, meditation, chanting, and inner personal work you will be guided through specific practices that you can integrate into your everyday life. These practices will support you in living your most inspired and purposeful life.
This weekend is appropriate for strong beginners, advanced practitioners, and teachers. These hours are certified CEUs by Yoga Alliance.
Schedule:
Friday: 6:00 – 9:00pm
Introduction
Chanting: Invoking Saraswati, learn the English translations of the chants, understand the why and how of chanting.
Vinyasa Flow Practice: Step into the River Saraswati
Saturday: 9:00am – 1:00pm
Chanting
Meditation: learn techniques that will support a home meditation practice
Philosophy: lecture/discussion on Saraswati as a central figure in many sacred texts, how we can decipher and activate her strong and benevolent teachings into our lives.
Asana Lab Practice: Detailed technique and focus on the pelvis and lower belly as they relate to creative flow and heart openers. We will explore how to leverage intelligent alignment, props and variations to strengthen lower body and open the front body. You will learn skillful ways to increase good flow and reduce tension in the low back while practicing poses such as danurasana, ustrasana, and natarajasana.
Break: 1:00 – 2:00pm
Saturday: 2:00 – 5:00pm
Chanting
Pranayama: Saraswati inspired techniques
Philosophy: accessible and lively lecture/discussion on the Saraswati traditions, stories and practices
Vinyasa Practice: Creativity, Discipline, & Flow – working with creative and unconventional free-flowing sequences in a way that will help move energy, change perspective, and awaken your own inner wisdom
Sunday: 9:00am – 1:00pm
Chanting
Meditation Practice: engaging techniques learned, further instruction
Philosophy: Continued exploration and constructive follow up on philosophical guiding principles. Engaging the teachings through inner personal practices that will support our creativity through disciplined examination of our unique potential.
Vinyasa Flow: Inner Essence of Ma: Goddess Flow
Break: 1:00 – 2:00pm
Sunday: 2:00 – 4:00pm
Chanting
Philosophy: wrap-up, including closing circle and sadhana commitments
Restorative Yoga: a deep release, gentle restorative and somatic yoga for a sweet end and integration of a full weekend.
