Love Story Larkspur
Core Fundamentals Workshop by Katina Griffin
This is a two part interactive immersion designed to support students in taking their CORE work to a new level. Often people think of "core" as only the abdominals and yet this exploration will break down how our FRONT BODY core and BACK BODY core work in tandem with one another to create balanced strength, flexibility and stability.
Part 1 (Deepening Your Abdominal Workout) will provide attendees an overview of the abdominals, as well as, how to strengthen them. They will additionally learn how to use more intrinsic musculature for a deeper experience of their core work overall. Scheduled for Friday January 5th from 1:30-3:30 PM.
Part 2 (Back Core Muscles: Their Role in Core Strength) provides students the chance to develop a connection to the core muscles of their back and understand how when utilized in synergy with the abdominals makes for an efficient strengthening experience. They will come away from this training platform with a greater understanding of how to modify core exercises in all fitness modalities. Through practical application in a small group setting they will develop a comprehensive knowledge of how the back muscles are integral in all core work. Scheduled for Friday January 12th from 1:30-3:30 PM.
Students can expect to walk away from this series with greater access to how to make the most of their core work in all fitness modalities.
Prepare to view and take part in demonstrations, receive answers to your questions and to connect to your body inside a supportive environment.
About Katina:
Katina’s passion for movement is inspired by her background in dance, Pilates and yoga that spans well over 25 years. She brings enthusiasm and expertise to every class that she teaches and has used her knowledge of alignment and corrective exercise to lead, educate and motivate both students and teachers of fitness all over the world. She previously held the title of Master Teacher Trainer of barre in the Bay Area for the past 17 years and over her tenure, has mentored hundreds of studio owners and teachers across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and France. She is most proud of the relationships she formed on her fitness journey as she co-created, conducted and helped digitize an accredited barre certification program recognized by ACE (American Council on Exercise) and NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine).
Her teaching style and beliefs in the effects that functional movement has on rehabilitating her students from injury comes first hand after she suffered a compression fracture in her spine in 1994 that left her in a prosthesis for 3 months. She attributes most of her core strength, healing and overall postural awareness (inside AND out!) today to her immersion in corrective exercise and is passionate in her quest to uplift individuals as they meet their body's exactly where they are at and whatever rhythm they are in. Katina is in the process of writing two books and enjoys hiking the trails of Marin in her off time. She also spends ample time with her beloved furbaby cat, Himalaya.
