A Weekend with Tim Feldmann
Friday, October 7th 6-8pm | $35
What is Yoga and how do you practice it? Lecture + Q&A
In this talk, Tim will address what it is you are supposed to be doing when you are doing yoga on your mat according to Sri Patanjali. The ancient, yogic goals of health & liberation for our bodies, minds, and hearts sometimes get lost in our modern attempts of mastering yoga postures. Did you ever wonder how bending your back and jumping back-forth is possibly going to elevate your mind, release deep psychological patterns and lead you to a freer, happier state of living? Come learn what classic yogic texts say about practice and how to apply it to your own yoga practice for long-term benefit.
Saturday, October 8th 11-5pm [with lunch break 1-2pm] | $160
Session 1 | Detailing the Primary series - Part I (SuryaNamaskara - Navasana)
In this class, we take spring in a traditional Primary Series guided class. Following this immaculate practice form, we will allow for occasional inspired off-springs into technical detail and useful hints for moving your practice along, potentially bridging spiritual gaps between your body, the practice, and how it applies to our lives off the mat. We will explore most of these classic asanas and their anatomical mechanics for a deeper, injury-free, and more informed practice, as well as touching on the background of the Ashtanga method. Tim's sincere, down-to-earth and humorous teaching style makes for a fun, focused, and reverent evening. All Levels Welcome.
Session 2 | Sthira Sukham & Backbending
Develop your ‘sthirasukha’, your discipline and yumminess, for aptitude, enjoyment, and health in your yoga. The practice starts with directing your mind towards the essentials. We will look at what it takes to bend backward replacing fear with juiciness. The key to deep backbends is available to you through the integration of sound anatomical principles, healthy alignment&technique, accurate knowledge of your inner body - and curiosity. The movement mechanics of bending your spine are key to enhanced energy and in this class, you will begin to explore you natural potential for deep backbends with simplicity, support, safety, and enthusiasm. The workshop aims at developing tools for personal and balanced practice. All Levels Welcome.
Sunday October 9th 11-5pm [with lunch break 1-2pm] | $160
Session 1 | Detailing the Primary series - Part II (BhujaPidasana - Utplutih)
We continue where we left off yesterday. Allowing everyone to situate yesterday’s learning in action, we flow through the first half of this class in a straightforward manner, leaning into ashtanga’s traditional vinyasa-based dance of breath-movement integration. As we approach the last asana from yesterday we switch back into exploration mode for the second part of the Primary series’ exquisite stringing of traditional yoga asanas. All Levels Welcome - and you need not have taken yesterday’s class to join us today!
Session 2 | Inversions, Headstands & Arm Balances
In this workshop, you will learn practical tools to turn upside down with stability, tranquility, and grace. You will gain a thorough understanding of the anatomical patterns at play in your body while inverted. Detailing the shoulder mechanics helps you integrate your arms, spine, ribcage, and hip to create a solid platform for accessible and pleasurable inversions whether on your head, hands, or elbows. With a stringent focus on allowing serious learning to also be fun, we will play with simple to advanced asanas. All Levels Welcome.
