Kirtan and Album Launch with Cooper Ladnier
Join us for a kirtan and album launch celebration with Cooper Ladnier. Doors open at 6:30pm and then we’ll sing and chant with Cooper and special guest Astrud. Chanting is one of the most powerful tools in our devotional practice, and chanting in a group is even more of a revelation. Higher states of consciousness within the heart can be ignited and the illusion of separateness is dissolved through mantra and sangha!
Please note: this event does not include an asana practice.
Cooper Ladnier
Cooper started his devotional path several years ago in New York City leading Kirtan at various yoga studios and temples around the city. He moved to California in 2007 and has since established himself as a solo artist and a favorite collaborator with many of the Kirtan artists who live and travel through LA.
Committed to the practice of Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of devotion, Cooper has traveled throughout North and South America, and Europe including 12 trips to India studying and sharing the ancient art of singing the names of the Divine through call-and-response chanting. In his words, “I love that silence at the end of a chant. It’s as if you work the whole song to get to that point of silence. Then it’s just you and the Divine for a moment.”
Astrud Castillo
Astrud Castillo is a celebrated kirtan wallah currently based out of Los Angeles. Astrud shares the practice of Bhakti Yoga, the Yoga of Devotion, through her Kirtans as well as workshops on the “Essence of Bhakti Yoga” to the public and to Yoga teachers-in-training in the US and abroad. Her practice began over 20 years ago in NYC, and she has been devoted to the path ever since. For her, Mantras are like road maps that lead directly to the source—the heart. The longing to connect with spirit, peace, and one another is celebrated in the Bhakti tradition, so it is through these relationships that we prosper and deepen our love for the Divine, for one another, and for ourselves. Astrud leads annual trips to India, teaches yoga and mantra, and is working on her second CD. You can listen to her CD, Hari Om, on Spotify and iTunes.
